Autumn Dominguez
Friday January 31st
Autumn Dominguez is a versatile saxophonist, vocalist, and songwriter based out of New Orleans. Originally from Prescott, Arizona, Autumn’s grandfather shared his passion for music with her from a young age; she picked up the guitar at age 9 and later switched to alto saxophone at age 11. She eventually went on to The University of Arizona, where she studied both classical and jazz, and earned a degree in 2019. Now having lived in the Crescent City for two years, Dominguez works as a freelance jazz saxophonist and music educator, performing regularly with the notable group Trumpet Mafia, and pursues her own eclectic original project. Though she is a recording artist with multiple releases, Dominguez’s latest project is a new concept: her own cross-genre fusion of jazz and indie pop. Her reverence to the likes of saxophonists Charlie Parker and Lee Konitz coexist with her poetic lyrics and nostalgic Billy Joel-esque song devices. They cook up the kind of foot-stompin, two-steppin good times you may hear in an all-night saloon where the music plays as long as the dancers dance and the bartender pours as long as the patrons drink and the cigarettes smoke until the fog on the port window is thick enough to write your lover's name. The New Orleans Johnnys
Saturday March 29th
Born from a festival fever dream and raised on a decade of dive bar gigs, The New Orleans Johnnys blend the grooves of classic New Orleans rock & roll and distinctive funk rhythms with their own down-home, gritty blues energy. Blazing horns and virtuosic keys round out the band’s unmistakably New Orleans sound, which earned the group a 2020 Offbeat Magazine Best of the Beat Music Award nomination for Best Rock Artist. Whether performing their original songs or putting their own spin on beloved standards or eclectic covers, they strive to connect with audiences to spread an infectious energy that gets folks dancing - creating one of the most captivating live shows in town. Their studio work includes the 2017 Lush Like Me EP and the 2020 Outta Ya Mind LP, which Dan Willging of OffBeat Magazine described as “a massive injection of tightly crafted, action-packed hybrid of rock ’n’ roll, blues rock, funk and a dollop of swamp pop that rarely hits pause...”. Both the album and the video for the album’s lead single, “Don’t Wanna Dance,” earned 2020 Best of the Beat Music Award nods for the band. Ticket price $10
