The Soul Rebels
Thursday April 24th
The Soul Rebels started with an idea – to expand upon the pop music they loved on the radio and the New Orleans brass tradition they grew up on. They took that tradition and blended funk and soul with elements of hip hop, jazz and rock all within a brass band context. The band has built a career around an eclectic live show that harnesses the power of horns and drums in a deep pocket funk party-like atmosphere. The Soul Rebels continue to chart new territory as they feature in major films, tour globally, and combine topnotch musicianship with songs that celebrate dancing, life, funk and soul.

Nir Felder, Mike Clark, Benny Bloom, & Pat Casey
Tuesday April 29th
Called “the next big jazz guitarist” by NPR, Nir Felder is a new voice in instrumental music. Equally adept across a wide range of genres, inspired by icons from John Coltrane to voodoo chile Jimi Hendrix, Felder has forged a unique and highly recognizable sound at a young age and quickly become one of New York City’s most highly sought after musicians as both a solo artist and as a sideman. Mike Clark gained worldwide recognition as one of America's foremost jazz and funk drummers while playing with Herbie Hancock in the early 1970s. His incisive playing on Hancock's song "Actual Proof" off of the 1974 album Thrust garnered him an international cult following and influenced generations of drummers throughout the world. Eric “Benny” Bloom has become one of the most diverse trumpet players in the country. When he’s not on the road with "Lettuce", he can be seen performing around New Orleans with a number of artists ranging from the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Preservation Hall, Stanton Moore Trio, or his own groups Sonic Bloom and Eric Benny Bloom & The Melodies. Originally from Denver, Colorado, bassist Pat Casey’s music career has already lead him around the world playing throughout the U.S., Europe, and India among many other places. He possesses a diverse musical palette, consisting mostly of Jazz, Gospel, Funk, Afro-Cuban, and Samba/Bossa-Nova. Since arriving in New Orleans in February 2008, Pat has become one of the most prominent bassists in each of the respective styles in which he is fluent, and can be seen playing in many settings and stages in almost any of the New Orleans live music venues. Sam Fribush Organ Trio
Wednesday April 30th
Keyboardist Sam Fribush is on the frontlines of the Hammond organ revival. His debut release was produced by Charlie Hunter and recorded in North Carolina. The trio's new record 'People Please' was released March 15th, 2024. Over the past few years, Fribush has established himself as one of the country’s hottest young bandleaders and People Please pushes the keyboardist’s music into new and uncharted territory, revealing a deep affinity for crispy, wah-wah driven funk, Hip-hop beats and sultry HAMMOND ballads. Says Fribush, “My intention is to take this music into the future. I’m trying to expand the rules about what organ trio music is.” Indeed, the album places Fribush’s music not only among the giants of soul jazz–Ronnie Foster, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Larry Young–but also in the pantheon of funkateers like Sly Stone and the Meters.

Steve Kelly
Saturday May 3rd
New Orleans singer-songwriter Steve Kelly is a true lover of his adopted home, calling it “the greatest city the world has ever known or will ever know.” A fixture on the local scene, where he’s a regular at clubs like Tipitina’s, the Maple Leaf and Le Bon Temps Roule, Kelly’s debut solo record, "Here's The Thing", is more Alt Soul than New Orleans funk, steeped more in the soulful vocals and R&B horns of Al Green, Hi Records and Willie Mitchell than anything that came from the Crescent City, but the town’s spirit is undeniably woven throughout his music.

The band has a chemistry that boils with excitement and can incorporate a party full of people into one cohesive partnership. The funky rhythm section, coupled by Al Small on bass and Scott Graves on drums, seem to have a marriage to the groove that Quick lays down.
