The Soul Rebels

The Soul Rebels started with an idea – to expand upon the pop music they loved on the radio and the New Orleans brass tradition they grew up on. They took that tradition and blended funk and soul with elements of hip hop, jazz and rock all within a brass band context. The band has built a career around an eclectic live show that harnesses the power of horns and drums in a deep pocket funk party-like atmosphere. The Soul Rebels continue to chart new territory as they feature in major films, tour globally, and combine topnotch musicianship with songs that celebrate dancing, life, funk and soul.

Lynn Drury is an award-winning songwriter with a distinctive voice making melodic, New Orleans Americana created in a city that moves to its own groove. She’s been a regular at French Quarter Fest and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival for years, and has played just about everywhere in town. Over the past two decades, that meticulously cultivated style – NOLAmericana® – has brought Drury’s original music to stages all over the world. Her latest record, “High Tide,” (April 2024) Produced by Papa Mali (Ruthie Foster, 7 Walkers) features Papa on lead guitars which provides the perfect landscape to capture Drury’s essence as a songwriter. With a great backing rhythm section of Doug Belote and Rene Coman, it also features special appearances by Yvette Landry, Roddie Romero, Jason Mingledorf, and many more.

Friday November 15th
Read the Room is a indie-funk band founded by guitarist, Marcello Gleason and keyboardist, Snova Kayfetz in uptown New Orleans. Their line-up features drummer Mack Tracy, and Bassist Mike Tenreiro, with a rotating cast of local New Orleans singers, including Shelby Griffith, background vocalist for Nola's very own Big Funky Sam, and many others. Read the Room is heavily influenced by Motown/Soul musicians like Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers and everything inbetween. Some of their more modern influences include Vulfpeck, Jake Sherman, Silk Sonic. Read the Room's original music blends their older and newer influences into a fresh take on funky feel good rhythms and warm harmony that speaks to their peers and calls back to the vintage. 7-piece funk, blues, and soul collective Pocket Chocolate—Tucker France [guitar, vocals], Gabe France [bass, vocals], Connor Zaeringer [drums], Dalton Stieffel [keys, percussion], Gui Kirsch [tenor sax], Sal Gaither [trumpet], and Garret Hickman [alto sax]—is a band of born and raised New Orleans musicians. Since forming in 2019, the group has played all throughout the Gulfcoast as well as extensively in Louisiana. In September of 2023, the group released their debut EP “Live From New Orleans” (recorded at multiple venues across New Orleans) and is currently recording their debut LP with Jake Eckert of the New Orleans Suspects. With a combination of original songwriting and samples from musical influences across genres, Pocket Chocolate aims to captivate audiences with their scrumptious modern take on the vibrant styles of music that founded New Orleans’ musical culture. Seamlessly blurring the lines between psychedelic rock, country, blues and funk, the Jason Daniels Band pulls from another realm with their own inimitable blend of American Roots Music. With Jason Daniels on Guitar/Vocals, Chris Nash on Keys/Organ, Rhys Korbin on Drums/BGV, Raidan Gable on Bass, the band has been wowing audiences across the country with their multi-genre approach, superbly-crafted songs and improvisational jams. Praised for its soul and grit, the inaugural release, “Dashboard Visions and Rearview Reflections" hit the JamBand.com charts in 2013. Their uplifting second album, "Downloads From The Universe" released in 2020 was described as a breath of fresh air, reminiscent of 1970s classics. In 2021, the band released the single "Mystery Train," followed by their latest track "Lurker” released in December, 2023. Building on the success of their Ramblin' 23 Tour, that took the band through Colorado, Utah, and Nevada, they are Ramblin’ into 2024 with their current tour taking them through New Mexico, Arizona, and California. The Mississippi-based band is working on expanding their reach in the South and Southeast. Ticket price $10
